March 18–May 31, 2024
Opening Reception: Friday, April 5 | 5–8 PM
The group show grapples with issues of gender expressions, addiction and recovery, surviving oppressions, relationships, straddling socio-economic statuses, mother/ daughter relationships and loss and grieving as sites of mental health. Through empathy, vulnerability, and love we expand traditional narratives about madres/mothers as an action, an embodied experience that transcends private domestic spaces into the public realm. As a collective of artists, activists, and educators, Sotomayor, Villalobos, and Ballard facilitate conversations about nurturing mental health and intergenerational communities through creative acts.
