Staff Spotlight: Sharon Hoover

Scott, Sarah, Seth and Sharon Hoover

Sharon Hoover studied plant science at Penn State, began her professional career working in genetics and analytical chemistry at a local lab, and then joined the staff of what is now the Sustainability Institute at Penn State. She ultimately became the financial coordinator, a position that incorporated one of her favorite things – data.

Her love for data comes in handy in her position as analysis and planning consultant for the College of Arts and Architecture, a position she has held since 2015. She received a master’s degree in project management the same year. Sharon is integral to the preparation of the college’s strategic plan, and is known for her ability to provide all kinds of data quickly and efficiently.

“I love that I get to work with so many different people across the college,” Sharon said. “I appreciate the flexibility of the position, and that I can access everything online.”

Sharon lives in Tyrone with her husband, Scott, 17-year-old son, Seth, and 19-year-old daughter, Sarah, an art education major at Penn State. Fun fact: she helped to build the log house where her mother currently lives, just a few yards from her own.

In her free time during the warmer months, she enjoys spending time at Lake Raystown, sometimes taking her two pups out on the water.
