Modern Latinx troubadours Las Cafeteras to perform at Eisenhower Auditorium on Oct. 10

The Los Angeles Times calls the Afro-Mexican rhythms and powerful rhymes of Las Cafeteras a “uniquely Angeleno mishmash of punk, hip-hop, beat music, cumbia and rock.” The contemporary East Los Angeles artists will return to the Center for the Performing Arts to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with an infectious performance at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, in Eisenhower Auditorium. Tickets are $38 for an adult; $24 for those 18 and younger; and $5 per University Park student. They are available for purchase online. Tickets are also available by calling 814-863-0255 or in person, weekdays 10 a.m.–4 p.m., at Eisenhower Auditorium. An informal moderated discussion will be offered one hour before the performance and is free for ticket holders. Seating for the pre-performance talk is available on a first-arrival basis. Las Cafeteras is known for its protest songs and use of traditional instruments to connect cultures and generations. The artists often dedicate their songs to United States “Dreamers,” undocumented migrants and indigenous people being pushed off their land.
