College Hosts Women of Color in Art and Design Symposium

Seven Penn State alumni working in the arts, design and communications fields will participate in the Women of Color in Art and Design Symposium on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018, 6:30–8 p.m., at the Palmer Lipcon Auditorium, Palmer Museum of Art. Sponsored by the College of Arts and Architecture and moderated by Kikora Franklin, associate professor of theatre, the symposium will feature a panel discussion where participants talk about career goals and the challenges of working as women of color in their respective fields.

Participants include Quiana (Kiki) Dickson ('18 B.L.A.), currently working at planning and design firm Sasaki Associates in Watertown, Mass.; D'Nae Harrison ('14 B.F.A. Visual Arts), award-winning interdisciplinary artist; Adorée Johnson ('02 B.A. Sociology, '04 B.A. African and African American Studies), musician and professional dancer, focusing on African dance; Adrianna Matthews ('12 B.A. Theatre), who also holds a M.F.A. in drama and theatre for youth and communities and certification in disability studies from the University of Texas at Austin;

Maria (M√°le) Reguero, ('18 B.Des. Graphic Design), junior designer for Rent the Runway; Melanie Ray, AIA ('15 B.Arch.), currently working in the housing/mixed-used studio of Hord Coplan Macht in Baltimore; and Amanda Romero ('12 B.A. Journalism), freelance videographer.
