College honors spring 2020 student marshals

The College of Arts and Architecture recently honored the following students as college and academic unit marshals for spring 2020: Daniela Claudio Pagán, of Caguas, Puerto Rico, was the college marshal. Pagán earned a bachelor of design in graphic design and a minor in entrepreneurship and innovation (emphasis in arts entrepreneurship). She was awarded the Bunton-Waller Fellowship to attend Penn State. She was the Graphic Design class representative all four years, as well as an Arts Ambassador for the College of Arts and Architecture. This year, as the design director for TEDxPSU, she led a team of designers in branding the entire event and also did some stage design. Pagán has been an active member of the Puerto Rican Student Association and Outcast Dance Team. She plans to pursue a career as a graphic designer in a firm in Puerto Rico.

Audrey Buck, of Saint Louis, MO, was the Department of Architecture student marshal. She earned a bachelor of architecture degree with a minor in Italian. She received numerous awards during her time as a student, including the Golumbic Scholarship Award in the design achievement category. During her five years at Penn State, she spent most of her free time exploring Pennsylvania’s Endless Mountains, and she said the beauty, power and stillness that she found during her adventures there greatly enhanced her design education. Buck is continuing her career as a Penn State student and will graduate in spring 2021 with a master of science in architecture. Benjamin Mitchell, of State College, PA, was the Department of Art History student marshal. He received bachelor of arts degrees in art history and classics & ancient Mediterranean studies. Mitchell spent the last two years working at the Penn State University Libraries in a variety of roles and represented the Libraries at New Student Orientation, donor events and the Student Engagement Exposition. Most recently, he curated an exhibition in Pattee Library in collaboration with the Eberly Family Special Collections Library, titled International Solidarity, which highlighted posters and buttons from the 20th century promoting cooperation among nations. Mitchell plans to pursue a master of library science degree with a focus in special collections. Lauren Rheaume, of Hamilton, NJ, was the Department of Graphic Design student marshal. She earned a bachelor of design in graphic design, and minors in media studies and digital media trends & analytics. She is currently designing for RePlay, an organization that will be introduced to Penn State next year. She has been recognized in the Graphis New Talent Annualfor her design of a mobile app. Rheaume is a member of Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society. Last summer, she held a digital design internship at the public relations agency PMK•BNC in New York, NY. She plans to pursue a career as a graphic designer in entertainment media. Kaitlyn Innerst, of York, PA, was the Integrative Arts Program student marshal. She earned a bachelor of arts in integrative arts with minors in photography and psychology. Innerst is an artist and photographer who has lived and worked in New York City, Pittsburgh and France. She has had her work in several exhibitions over the past year, including Creative Resolutionsat the Palmer Museum of Art. Other exhibitions include: Exploring Identity, Language and Narrative​ at the Keller Collective Gallery; ​Timely Warning​ at the HUB-Robeson Galleries; and a solo exhibition in Patterson Gallery. Additionally, she had a piece published in both ​Folio​and Kaleidoscope​ visual arts magazines. She was an intern at the Fabric Workshop Museum in Philadelphia. She plans to pursue a master of fine arts degree. Hannah Gomez, of State College, PA, was the Department of Landscape Architecture student marshal. She earned a bachelor of landscape architecture degree. While a Penn State student she took studio courses in Spain and Germany and studied Aboriginal art in Australia and New Zealand. She had internships at Bradley Site Design in Washington, D.C., and at Penn State’s Campus Planning department, and taught art classes for students and faculty at the Center for Arts and Crafts. Gomez received a Student Merit Award from the Pennsylvania-Delaware Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects and a Creative Achievement Award from the College of Arts and Architecture. Her honors thesis, completed in collaboration with the Office of the Physical Plant, explores reintroducing a network of forested ecosystems into pockets of the University Park campus. Meredith Fuller, of Lebanon, PA, was the School of Music student marshal and earned a bachelor of music education degree. She was a member of the Tuba-Euphonium Studio and student of Velvet Brown. She was also a member of the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Philharmonic Orchestra, Graduate Brass Quintet, Blue Band, Oriana Singers and Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble. During her undergraduate career, she received Undergraduate Jury Recognition, served as secretary for the Tuba-Euphonium Studio, was the president of the Arts and Architecture Special Living Option for two years and was the principal tubist of the Nittany Valley Symphony. Fuller plans to continue her education at Penn State as a graduate student pursuing a master of music degree in performance. Sophia Tepermeister, of Newton, MA, was the School of Theatre student marshal. She earned a bachelor of fine arts in theatre with an emphasis in scenic design and a minor in anthropology.Tepermeister was the set designer for two Penn State Centre Stage productions: Men on Boats and Angels in America: Millennium Approaches. During her senior year, she trained in the School of Theatre’s graduate design studio.She was the recipient of the 2019 Oliver Smith Award for Excellence in Design and Production in scenic design and a 2020 College of Arts and Architecture Creative Achievement Award. Sophia has worked as a scenic artist at various production companies in the Boston area, as well as the Ohio Light Opera in Wooster, Ohio. She also worked as a resident assistant in East Halls for the last two years. Tom Rosenow, of Lititz, PA, was the School of Visual Arts student marshal and earned a bachelor of fine arts in art with an emphasis in drawing and painting. A lifelong artist who transferred to Penn State his junior year, he was the treasurer of the Painting Club and organized a student art sale through the Woskob Family Gallery. He participated in the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts, held a solo exhibition at the Art Alliance Downtown Gallery in State College and interned at the Green Drake Gallery and Arts Center. In the coming months he will attend an artist residency in upstate New York while continuing his painting and exhibiting. He later plans to attend graduate school for his master of fine arts degree in order to teach undergraduate art students.
