Architecture alumnus named associate principal at Pittsburgh-based firm

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Darren Lloyd, who received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Penn State in 1998, has been promoted to associate principal at mossArchitects, an architectural design firm in Pittsburgh, according to a Feb. 28 press release.

Lloyd joined the firm in 2015 and has been involved in several important projects including multi- and single-family residences, mixed-use buildings and offices. He was instrumental in the design and office collaboration for the renovations to create the firm’s new office in Garfield, a neighborhood in the East End of Pittsburgh.

According to the press release, “Darren is a strong mentor and brings a modern, creative approach to every project he touches. His dedication to thoughtful, beautiful and intelligent design solutions carries through every aspect of his involvement in a project, from initial conceptualization through the detailing and final realization of the built project.”

During Lloyd’s 20-year career, he has collaborated on projects that have earned more than 20 design awards, including 10 American Institute of Architects (AIA) awards and one AIA National Honor Award. His work has also been featured in several publications including Architectural Record, Northwest Home+Garden, The Seattle Times, Seattle Metropolitan Magazine, Residential Architect, Wired, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Pittsburgh Magazine.
