WE ARE excited to welcome the selected festival participants to our beautiful campus for the 2025 Penn State New-Music Festival and Symposium! The festival will take place March 20-22, 2025 and consists of multiple concerts and research presentation sessions, featuring the work of composers and scholars selected through an international call for scores and research proposals. Selected composer participants will attend the festival, work with performers, network with other participants and within the Penn State community, and hear their compositions presented on a festival concert. Selected scholars will present papers/presentations on a wide range of proposed topics. The festival concerts will feature performances by Penn State faculty and student performers, Penn State large ensembles, chamber ensembles, and guest performers.
Festival programming is selected from an international call for scores, with 22 panels reviewing submissions and ultimately selecting the compositions and presentations to feature at the festival. We received 608 composition submissions from 37 countries, and 28 research presentation proposals from 10 countries!
