Purchase TicketsThis captivating program features Stevie Ray Vaughn’s "Lenny" for solo electic guitar, George Antheil’s Sonata for trumpet and piano, performed by George Carpten, and preceded by a talk by Distinguished Professor Marica Tacconi about Antheil’s “Bad Boy” identity and Rosephanye Powell’s "Miss Wheatley’s Garden," a stunning vocal work brought to life by mezzo soprano dawn pierce.
Also on the program includes "Gamin" from William Grant Still’s Suite for Violin and piano, performed by Torra Bridges, “Pit Band” by William Albright, performed by Dr. Anthony J. Costa (clarinet), Dr. David Stambler (saxophone), and Dr. Kathy Gattuso-Cinatl (piano), and “Silver Dagger” by Stacy Garrop, performed by Dr. Naomi Seidman (flute), Prof. Kim Cook (cello), and Ann Deighton (piano).
The evening concludes with George Crumb’s mesmerizing "Voice of the Whale," howcasing piano, electric cello, and electric flute, performed by Kahley Mitchell (flute), Isaac McNulty (cello), and Yanun Huang (piano).
