Milagros Ponce De Leon

Biography

Milagros Ponce de León is a Scenic Designer, Associate Professor of Scenic Design, and Head of the B.F.A. Program in Theatre Design & Technology in the School of Theatre at Penn State University. She holds a BFA degree in Drawing and Painting Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and MFA degrees in both Studio Arts and Scenic Design from the University of Maryland at College Park. Recent Scenic design credits include Disney Tale of Moana for Disney Live Entertainment and The Lehman Trilogy at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre in Florida. Her work has been seen at Ford’s Theatre, Olney Theatre Center, Round House Theatre, Asolo Rep, Cincinnati Playhouse, Gala Hispanic Theatre, Imagination Stage, Everyman Theatre, Signature Theatre (D.C.), Ensemble Studio Theatre (NYC), Children’s Theatre of Charlotte, The John F. Kennedy Center for the Arts among others. Upcoming projects include Hercules for Disney Live Entertainment and 1776 at Ford’s Theatre in Washington DC. Milagros has received five Helen Hayes Nominations for Outstanding Scenic Design in the Washington, D.C. area. She is a member of United Scenic Artists, Local-829, and an Associate Artist at Ford’s Theatre.
