Julian Wang

Biography

Julian Wang is an associate professor in Department of Architectural Engineering and an affiliate faculty member within the Department of Architecture and the Materials Research Institute at Penn State. He has previously worked at the University of Cincinnati, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and Tsinghua University in Beijing.

Wang’s research focuses on interdisciplinary applications of building physics — especially photometry and radiometry — in sustainable, healthy, and interactive building environments by leveraging advanced data sensing and processing techniques and computational design methods.

He is a recipient of the National Science Foundation CAREER Award and the Illuminating Engineering Society’s Richard Kelly Award. Wang also serves on the TAD journal editorial board and as a chair of American Solar Energy Society’s Solar Buildings Division.
