Darnell Roulhac

Biography

Darnell T. Roulhac is a Tenor and Assistant Teaching Professor of Voice at Penn State University. A native of Washington, D.C., he studied at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts before earning his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from The Boston Conservatory.

His performance credits include Gobin in La Rondine, Monostatos in Die Zauberflöte, and Ernest Diggle in Jerry Springer: The Opera. Recently, he portrayed Benvolio in Roméo et Juliette with Bel Cantanti Opera Company and Peppe in Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci. As a member of the Washington National Opera chorus, Darnell has contributed to productions such as Appomattox, Don Carlo, and Eugene Onegin.

Darnell earned his Master of Vocal Pedagogy: CCM from Shenandoah Conservatory. He has previously managed a private voice studio in D.C. and continues to teach voice and perform professionally.

Dedicated to helping students discover their authentic voice, Darnell’s students have gone on to produce albums, start bands, join professional ensembles, and perform on Broadway in shows like The Lion King and Hamilton. He is also a sought-after workshop and masterclass presenter on topics including crossover singing, audition preparation, and characterization across the United States.
