John M. Anderson Endowed Lecture Series Presents Sarah Rose Sharp

The Penn State School of Visual Arts (SoVA) is pleased to announce a visit by Sarah Rose Sharp as part of its John M. Anderson Endowed Lecture Series. Sarah Rose Sharp is a Detroit-based writer, activist, and multimedia artist. A Kresge Literary Arts Fellow in Arts Criticism, Sharp writes for Art in America, Hyperallergic, The Believer, Sculpture Magazine, Flash Art, ArtSlant, and others. Her lecture titled "Finding Evidence ? The Art of Detection in an Interdisciplinary Practice" will be on Wednesday, January 31, from 3 to 4 p.m. in the Palmer Lipcon Auditorium, Palmer Museum of Art. During her visit, Sharp will also serve as juror for SoVA's annual Undergraduate Juried Exhibition.†

In addition to her 2015 Kresge Fellowship, Sharp was selected as a participant in the 2015 Art Writing Workshop facilitated by AICA/USA and the Art Writers Grant Program. She has shown work in New York, Seattle, and Detroit?including participation in group shows at the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Grosse Pointe Art Center, the Kerrytown Concert House, and the Terhune Gallery in Ohio?with solo shows at Public Pool in Hamtramck in 2016, and Simone DeSousa Gallery in January 2017. She is primarily concerned with artist and viewer experiences of making and engaging with art, and conducts ongoing research on the state of contemporary art in redeveloping cities, including a process blog called ?Breakfast with the Artist.?
