Curatorial fellow Laura Almeida works on projects at the Denver Art Museum

PhD candidate Laura Almeida, curatorial fellow at the Denver Art Museum has worked extensively on the Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera and Mexican Modernism exhibition and on Senga Nengudi: Topologies. She participated in the virtual tour for the Mexican Modernism exhibit. In this video, hear from Laura Almeida, curatorial fellow in modern and contemporary art, and Claudia Moran, director of Museo de las Americas, as they discuss the role of women in the Mexican Modernism movement.  While Frida Kahlo may be the most well known of the women Mexican Modernists, women artists were fundamental to creating a new artistic identity in Mexico. In addition she curated a small show with two video pieces by Ana Mendieta .
