Lauren Sosa

Biography

Lauren Sosa completed her Bachelor of Landscape Architecture at Penn State in 2007 and is thrilled to be returning to Happy Valley. After working for three years at an urban design office in South Florida, Sosa attended the University of Florida where she earned her Master of Landscape Architecture and doctorate. She is particularly interested in the social aspects of landscape architecture; her graduate research explored aspects of cultural competency and power dynamics in less-developed contexts.

Sosa will be offering seminars and other courses that are focused on social issues. In her seminar class titled, “Environmental Ethics and Social Justice,” students will explore concepts on values and equity in the landscape while paying particular attention to race, indigenous peoples, and gender.

For the last few years Sosa has been living on a sailboat in Boston Harbor with her husband, cat, and golden retriever, Baloo. She is an avid sailor, Argentine tango dancer, and muay Thai practitioner.
