Biography
Elizabeth Bonjean teaches theatre history, dramatic literature, critical theory, and performance studies. She received her Ph.D. in Theatre History, Theory, and Criticism from the University of Washington (Seattle), and her BA and MA in Drama from San Francisco State University. Elizabeth’s research focuses on memory, grief, trauma, and national identity alongside theatre and cultural performances created in the aftermath of violence and war. Book essays exploring these subjects can be seen in The Wire: Urban Decay and American Television, Ethnicity and Identity, and Beauty, Violence, Representation. Elizabeth has previously taught at the University of Washington (Seattle), the University of Texas at Austin, Colorado College, and Grinnell College. Prior to academia, she worked as a development associate and consultant for Center Theatre Group (Mark Taper Forum/Ahmanson Theatre/Kirk Douglas Theatre) in Los Angeles.
