Biography
Neil Korostoff earned his bachelor’s degree in urban studies and his master’s degree in landscape architecture both from the University of Pennsylvania. His “Plants, People, and Place” course became a revered course by students and alumni who recognize Korostoff’s deep knowledge and spirited commitment to native plant communities.
His research areas include urban design and planning for cities in developing countries, urban and regional planning in Turkey, informal urban settlements in developing countries, post-mining reclamation and development, and sustainable design.
Korostoff is a member of the board of directors for the Foundation for Pennsylvania Watersheds and the Pennsylvania Abandoned Mine Lands Coalition Faculty. He has also worked as a landscape architect with Sere, Ltd. in State College since 1987.
Korostoff retired from Penn State in June 2019.
