Biography

Originally from Westborough, Massachusetts, Jake Wellington-Byrne earned both his Doctorate and Bachelor of Music in bassoon performance from the University of Michigan under Dr. Jeffrey Lyman and his Master of Music in orchestral bassoon performance from McGill University in Montreal, where he studied with Mr. Stéphane Lévesque of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra.

Dr. Wellington-Byrne has performed in many settings, both nationally and internationally. Notable performances include the Scarab Club’s annual Mozart festival in Detroit, MI, as well as with Les Etoiles wind quintet, performing concerts in Montreal and holding a summer residency at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland in 2019. He also performs regularly with numerous orchestras in southern Michigan, such as the Ann Arbor, Battle Creek, and Jackson Symphony Orchestras, and has performed with the Orchestra of the Americas.
