Biography
Christine joins the Penn State faculty after over 20 years in the field as a NYC-based Director | Choreographer | Educator. With Centre Stage: Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, RENT, and Legally Blonde. Her Off-Broadway credits include tick, tick… BOOM!, The Hello Girls, The Underclassman, john and jen, and Iron Curtain. On Broadway she assisted Diane Paulus and Karole Armitage on the Tony Award-winning Broadway revival of HAIR, then remounted and maintained its National and International Tours.
Regional work includes The Kennedy Center, Tuacahn, Barrington Stage Company, TheaterWorks Hartford, Mark Taper Forum, and the Totem Pole, Weathervane, and New London Barn Playhouses, as well as award-winning revivals at The Astoria Performing Arts Center and The Gallery Players. Her tour of Pete the Cat’s Big Hollywood Adventure travelled the country with TWUSA for two years. Honors include: SDC Observership with Jerry Mitchell on Legally Blonde (Broadway); SDCF’s Charles Abbott Directing Fellowship (with Joseph Haj at The Guthrie); The Moss Hart Award (The Outcast of Sherwood Forest, RIYT); and a NYIT Award for Outstanding Choreography for The Drowsy Chaperone (Gallery Players).
Previous faculty positions include Program Director of Musical Theatre at Nazareth College and Adjunct Professor at Marymount Manhattan College, as well as Guest Artist stints at NYU (Steinhardt), SUNY New Paltz, Marist College, Abilene Christian University, and the Stevens Insitute. She holds a BS in Communications from Boston University and a MFA in Theatre from Arizona State University. She is a trained Intimacy Director (IDC and TIE) and completed Nicole Brewer’s Conscientious Theatre Training. She is a Member of SDC and MTEA’s New Works Committee, where she was a part of the team that launched the New Works Collaboration Catalogue, a resource that connects musical theatre writers to college and university development programs. www.ChristineOGrady.com
