Butoh dance theatre in Japan. The music of Brazilian Carnival. Persian calligraphy. Music, visual art, dance, theatre, design, and built environments reflect the cross-cultural nature of art. The International Arts minor will challenge you to go beyond the familiar, and expand your inquiries to other cultures through study of the arts.
Go global with a minor in International Arts
Studying visual arts, performing arts, built environments, design, and literature is inherently cross-cultural and international. The interdisciplinary International Arts minor is designed so that you can have a rich opportunity to expand your knowledge of other cultures through the arts.
The International Arts minor is open to all Penn State students regardless of major. It requires foreign language proficiency, a study abroad experience, and completion of approved international arts courses related to a geographical, chronological, or thematic concentration. Courses used to fulfill the requirements of the minor may also count toward other degree requirements.
