Alec Spangler: Folded Section

Panoramic charcoal illustration of central Pennsylvania's landscape on a curved wall.

Folded Section is a site-specific wall (and floor) drawing that re-imagines the local Ridge and Valley landscape and invites viewers to find their place within it.

Folded Section re-envisions the Central Pennsylvania landscape that viewers travel through each day, creating wonder out of the familiar. Enveloping the gallery walls and floor, it offers a new model for understanding space, time, scale, community, and place.

Alec Spangler, Assistant Professor of Landscape Architecture at Penn State, explores relationships between the bodily experience of long distances and representations of space in art and design.
