Jack Maloney has been selected as the College of Arts and Architecture’s student marshal for the summer 2022 commencement ceremony scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 13 at the Bryce Jordan Center. Maloney is a native of Delray Beach, Florida and will receive a Bachelor of Fine Arts within the Musical Theatre Program. While at Penn State, Maloney was a member of the Schreyer Honors College and was Vice President of Eclipse FTK, a THON-related philanthropical organization, and the Teen Leadership Coordinator of Camp Kesem’s Central Pennsylvania chapter. During his degree work, Maloney discovered a passion for screenwriting and comedy. He explored those passions during a summer program in 2021 at the University of Southern California’s (USC) School of Cinematic Arts where he took classes in screenwriting, the business of film and television and wrote his first feature-length screenplay “QueerEye,” a queer comedy inspired by his experience as the only gay student at his high school. The screenplay also served as his Schreyer senior thesis. After graduation, Maloney hopes to attend USC or New York University (NYU) in pursuit of an MFA and wants to create, write and star in his own TV Comedy Series.
