“Crossing Over” is a celebration of music and composers that live at the intersection of jazz, classical, commercial and film styles. Nathaniel Shilkret’s “Concerto for Trombone,” a rarely performed work originally written for trombonist Tommy Dorsey, will highlight a dynamic program featuring new compositions and arrangements by trombone professor, Ben Carrasquillo, and works by Jim Pugh and Jordan VanHemert. Fellow professors Katherine Benson, piano, George Carpten, trumpet, and Sarah Schouten, horn, will join to bring this program of intersecting genres to life.
