On September 20th, “Cassandra Weeps” is a dynamic program of baroque works by Monsieur de Sainte-Colombe, Arcangelo Corelli, Johann Schenk, JS Bach, and Marin Marais performed on historical instruments. Lily Schrantz (viola da gamba) is joined by Patricia Ann Neely (viola da gamba), Brian Kay (lute/theorbo), William Rehwinkel (harpsichord), and Cole Denton (countertenor), plus guest speaker Nikki Crawford. This program reflects on the connection through grief between us today and the composers of the distant past, and it is dedicated to all victims of war and inhumane treatment under unjust laws.
