This project explores gender and sexual fluidity—often underrepresented in art and culture—through the lens of contemporary opera. Focusing on vocal pedagogical challenges and the transformative potential of inclusive casting and storytelling, it offers critical insights into reimagining roles, vocal types, and narratives. Using case studies, academic discourse, and queer theory in performance, the research examines how opera can transcend rigid binaries to become a platform for authentic expression. Ultimately, the aim is to advocate for an opera that reflects and celebrates gender and sexual diversity, inspiring inclusive artistry and social dialogue on the operatic stage.
